Cat Flap & Pet Door Fitting in Northampton
Cat flaps and pet doors fitted into double glazed windows, uPVC doors and composite door panels. We supply and fit the SureFlap range from Sure Petcare, or fit a pet door you have bought yourself.

Cat Flaps Fitted Into Glass, Properly
A sealed double glazed unit cannot be drilled or cut once it has been made. The toughened glass would shatter, and even if it survived, the seal would be gone and the unit would mist up within weeks. The right way to put a cat flap into a window is a new made-to-measure unit with the aperture cut before the glass is toughened, then the flap fitted into it with the manufacturer's mounting adaptor.
That is what we do, and it is the same glass and the same 10-year guarantee as our sealed unit replacement work. We survey the opening, order the unit with the hole in the right place, and come back to fit the glass and the flap in one visit. Your frames stay where they are.
uPVC and composite door panels are different: those we can cut on site, using a tunnel adaptor sized to the thickness of the panel. Either way you get a neat, weathertight finish rather than a hole full of sealant.

Why Have Us Do It?
- The glass is made for the job
- Toughened, made to measure, aperture cut before toughening. Nobody takes a hole saw to your existing window.
- One visit to fit
- Survey first, then a single appointment once the unit arrives. The window is never left boarded up overnight.
- Doors and panels too
- uPVC doors, composite door panels and walls, with the right tunnel depth and adaptor for each.
- Set up before we go
- Flap paired to your cat's microchip, curfew or DualScan settings configured, and shown to you working.
- Any make fitted
- SureFlap, PetSafe, OnlyCat or whatever you have already bought, as long as it suits the surface.
- 10-year guarantee on the unit
- The replacement sealed unit carries the same 10-year guarantee against manufacturing defects as the rest of our glass.
Fitting a Pet Door You Have Bought Yourself
You do not have to buy the flap from us. If you have already chosen a SureFlap, a PetSafe, an OnlyCat or anything else, we are happy to fit it, and the glass or panel work is exactly the same. Send us a link or a photo of the box and we will tell you before you order whether it will work in the window or door you have in mind.
What the product needs to have
- Manufacturer's fitting instructions and template
- We need the cut-out size and the overall hole size the product asks for. Without them the glass cannot be ordered.
- Rated for the surface it is going into
- Plenty of pet doors are made for timber doors only. Fitting into glass or a uPVC panel usually needs the maker's mounting adaptor.
- A tunnel deep enough for the panel
- The tunnel has to pass through the full thickness of the unit or door panel. Most ranges sell an extender if the standard depth is short.
- Room around it in the glass
- The opening needs clearance from the edge of the pane and from the frame. We confirm this on survey before anything is ordered.
- Supplied complete
- Frame, tunnel, fixings, screws and any adaptor in the box. A missing part on fitting day means a second visit.
- A power route if it needs one
- Some camera and prey-detection flaps run on mains power rather than batteries. The cable route wants agreeing before we cut anything.

Cat Flap Customers On The Work
Cat flaps are one of the jobs we get asked for most often, and the reviews below are all for exactly this work.
Tommy responded to our original contact very quickly. He was able to arrange a site visit within a week and the cat flap was installed a week later. Tommy is very courteous and very obliging. Whilst here he fixed our bifold and serviced our doors. A great service, we only wish we had more work for him. Can wholeheartedly recommend Tommy Windows.
What a fabulous service, friendly, helpful, efficient, quick and a genuinely nice chap! The whole experience from first contact to installation of our Only Cat cat flap has been wonderful. Tommy even rehung our troublesome patio doors and fixed our bi-fold doors. What a star.
Tommy fitted a cat flap into my French door - new glass panel measured, ordered and fitted within the week. Cat flap installed and helped carry to storage the spare glass panel. Tommy was efficient, tidy and friendly with great communication throughout via email and face to face. Absolutely recommended. Thanks.

Frequently Asked Questions
The questions we get asked most about putting a cat flap into glass, doors and panels.
Yes, and it is one of our most common jobs. The existing sealed unit cannot be cut, so we measure the opening and order a new made-to-measure toughened unit with the aperture already in it. Your frames are untouched and the new unit is guaranteed for 10 years.
Double glazed units are toughened, and toughened glass shatters into fragments the moment it is cut or drilled. The hole has to go in before the glass is toughened, which means it has to happen at the factory, not on your windowsill.
The survey takes a few minutes. The glass is then made to order, typically about a week, and fitting the unit and the flap together is usually under an hour per opening.
Yes. Door panels are cut on site and fitted with a tunnel adaptor to suit the panel thickness. Worth knowing that cutting a composite door panel can affect the door manufacturer's own warranty, so on a newer door we will flag that before starting.
The new unit is the same specification as the one it replaces, and the flap itself is brush-sealed and magnetically closed. You lose a little around the flap, as you would with any opening, but the glazing performance stays where it was.
Absolutely, and plenty of customers do. It needs to be suitable for glass or panel fitting, supplied complete with its template and fixings, and deep enough for the panel it is going into. Send us a photo or a link before you buy and we will check it for you.
The Microchip Pet Door has a 178 x 170mm opening rather than the cat flap's 142 x 120mm, which suits larger cats and small breeds. We will measure your pet's shoulder height and chest width on the survey if you are unsure.
Yes. We programme your cat into the flap before we leave and show you how to add another pet, set a curfew, or use the app on the Connect models.
